Workshops

As part of the community outreach programme of PyCon Australia, we've put together a few workshops to introduce people to Python.

Venue

We'll be hosting a DjangoGirls workshop and an Electronics workshop at The Edge (part of the State Library of QLD, located at South Brisbane) on Monday 3rd of August, 9am to 12:30pm.

DjangoGirls

DjangoGirls is a free, half day workshop helping you to build your first application using HTML, CSS, Python and Django. People work in small, 3-person groups with a mentor dedicated to each group. During the workshop, attendees follow a tutorial written especially for this purpose. The tutorial is also open sourced and available for free. It covers creating your blog application from scratch, including deployment to Python Anywhere. Beginners are welcome. Women are encouraged to come, all are welcome. Bring a laptop if you can.

Electronics

The free electronics workshop will introduce basic electronics principles using a safe, no-solder, low-powered Arduino and input/output devices. Attendees keep the electronics kit. Beginners are welcome. Bring a laptop if you can.
